In an effort to reduce prices and attract more buyers to energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs, Walmart is now selling its own private label CFLs. Compact fluorescents use a fraction of the electricity that incandescents use, they provide quality light, last much longer and save money on your electric bill. You can reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution by making the switch, since much of our electricity in the U.S. still comes from heavy polluting coal.
I just want to know if they are packaging them in recyclable cardboard or in the hazardous bubble plastic that will sit in landfills for the next 400 years. I’ve contacted them and will post their response when I receive it.
Remember to dispose of CFL’s properly as they contain trace amounts of mercury inside. Go to earth911.org, lamprecycle.org or contact your local solid waste authority for recycling options.
