During the Excellence in Design Tour, that I wrote about in a post on Monday, I came across an ingenious product made from recycled rubber–it was slate-looking roof tiles. In a side-by-side comparison with real slate, it looked identical. Not only is it a terrific use for recycled rubber, it is half the weight of slate, can be installed in a fraction of the time (compared with slate), is available in several colors, and is very durable with warranties up to 50 years!
Also available is a cedar-shake look-a-like made from recycled rubber and plastic.
It’s amazing how many environmentally friendly roof options there are today!
