The IKEA name is recognizable everywhere due to its distinct line of home furnishings. Now IKEA will be known for something more meaningful in the U.K., as it partners up with the Woodland Trust to plant a tree every time one of its patrons uses his or her store card.
Since the U.K. is one of the least wooded countries, this program should have a large impact. Not only will customers receive discounts and exclusive offers, but they’ll be helping the environment while they shop.
IKEA has also been working with the World Wildlife Fund and Global Forest Watch to help offset its usage of wood.
