Green Machine Uses Soap Nuts to Clean

What the heck is a soap nut?! It (Sapindus mucorossi) is a natural plant that has been used to clean clothes for centuries in India and Nepal, and may make its commercial debut for use with a newly-invented washing machine.
That would be the E-wash, a compact washer that won the Electrolux Design Lab 2007, a global competition where students conceive prototypes for household appliances of the future. This year’s theme centered around the environment and sustainable products and solutions.
This year’s winner, Levente Szabó from Moholy-Nagy University of Art & Design in Hungary, invented the innovative machine.
