American International Group, AIG, is now offering insurance policy discounts, up to 10%, on their premiums for new Pollution Legal Liability (PLL) policies for buildings that are awarded LEED certification. LEED is a set of green building standards developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. Since green building practices incorporate environmentally-friendly materials and finishes, they minimize the risk of toxic exposures.
“AIG’s policies are aimed at commercial real estate developers and renovators who face potentially serious risks from environmental hazards at sites that are being renovated, expanded or demolished.”
