Safer Kid’s Furnishings

Safety is at the top of every parent’s list, but some may not realize that there are safer, and eco-friendly, alternatives to furnishings for children. An Illinois-based company, Skyline Design, offers a line of “GreenPlay” furnishings like tables, benches, shelving, and playspaces that are finished with zero- or very-low VOC paints. (VOCs are Volatile Organic Compounds that are known to cause adverse health effects).

Providing better indoor air quality is important for a developing child, and studies have shown that learning is easier in healthier environments.

The furnishings are also constructed of environmentally-friendly materials like sunflower hull and wheat boards (agricultural waste products), and recycled plastic. Skyline Design will even take back their products when your child is done with them for re-purposing.
