One important benefit of building green includes improved indoor air quality, which goes hand in hand with a health care center’s mission.
Mercy Medical Center, a newly constructed green building in Rogers, Arkansas, will open this March. Patients and staff will breathe easier due to a reduction in vinyl and materials that emit VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). The hospital is also expected to benefit from the green construction, with a 40% savings in utility costs due to incorporated energy efficiency standards. Environmental stewardship is a priority for the new medical center, both in it’s construction and in its daily operations and maintenance.
