Three Main Trends Justify Green Buildings

Building to greener standards is increasing in popularity due to three main reasons:

1. Government initiatives. Green bills are being introduced and passed in several states. Government buildings are being built to be more environmentally-conscious, more productive spaces for workers, and energy and water efficient. Local, state, and federal tax incentives, rebates, and expediting of building permits also add to its appeal.
2. Residential demand for greener homes (new and remodeled) has increased even while traditional home sales are slumping across the nation. Concerns over indoor air quality and rising costs of energy are main contributors.
3. Increased access to sustainable materials and building products.
