Now the government would like its sustainably-planned administrative offices to serve as an example for the region, with hopes that green building will also be associated with the beautiful islands.

The government’s new administration building, the largest building in the Cayman Islands, is now under construction and will be seeking LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. It will replace the inefficient “Glass House” which currently houses the government’s administrative offices.

The new government-owned building will not only save on costs associated with leasing several facilities, but also on operational costs due to improved energy efficiencies and water conservation measures.
