Vote Now for 2008 Fossil Fool Awards!

co-op-america-logo.gifLike to win a free year’s worth of carbon offsets from renewable energy projects? Now you can make your voice heard and vote (until March 28th) for those individuals that heavily support dirty technologies that contribute to global climate change.

Co-Op America, Energy Action Coalition and Rainforest Action Network have joined forces to bring us Fossil Fool Day this April 1st. They’ve compiled a ballot of CEOs of companies with fossilized portfolios, along with elected officials who’s work contributes to massive amounts of carbon emissions. The goal is to show our leaders that clean, green technologies are the way of the future.

Co-Op America has also posted on it’s website a list of Fossil Fool-related events that are scheduled around the country. Why not join in on the party?!

If you’re wondering what exactly carbon offsets are, I’ll fill you in. Basically, they neutralize, or offset, your global warming pollution. The carbon offsets that you purchase go towards funding clean, renewable energy projects like solar, wind, and methane gas energy generation. Typically, the purchaser receives a certificate which represents the reduction of a specified amount of carbon dioxide emissions.
