Dallas Adopts Green Building Measures

“Live Large, Think Big”, that’s the new slogan of Dallas, Texas, and that’s exactly what’s happening in regards to the city’s green building efforts. Dallas has become one of the first major cities in the U.S. to enact a green building ordinance requiring all new residential and commercial structures to adhere to environmentally-conscious standards.dallas-skyline.jpg

The city wants to reduce pollution, as well as water and energy consumption. Dallas is already the number one municipal purchaser of renewable green power in the U.S., and is the only city chosen as a pilot city for the EPA’s Sustainable Skylines Initiative aimed at improving air quality.

Check out Dallas City Hall’s pdf on the matter here for all the details.

Don’t forget to celebrate Earth Day, Dallas-style at America’s largest Earth Day celebration, the third annual Green Apple Festival. Come out for a free, fun-filled weekend of great music and environmental awareness. It’ll be part of an 8-city simultaneous festival culminating on Sunday, April 20th. Find all the details here.
