A team of Architectural Technologies students from Cape Fear Community College has won the 7th annual North Carolina Sustainable Building Design Competition. The state-wide competition evaluates students’ abilities to design sustainable buildings in line with conventional construction costs.
This years challenge was to design an energy-efficient duplex that considered the needs of the elderly. CFCC’s winning design, called Arbor House, is planned to be built at Carolina Meadows, a retirement community in one of my favorite southern towns, Chapel Hill.
