Energy costs are rising everywhere and San Francisco is no exception. Pacific Gas & Electric just announced a 6.5% hike in electricity prices, however the city’s lawmakers have approved funding for solar installations to offset utility costs for homeowners, businesses and non-profits.
According to an article at CNET news, “Over the next decade, between $3,000 to $6,000 will be available to each homeowner to cover the installation of solar panels, as well as $10,000 for businesses and nonprofits, and $30,000 for nonprofit affordable housing. With the city incentives added to federal tax credits and state rebates, costs for a homeowner who might otherwise spend $30,000 to install solar panels would drop to near $6,000.”
The incentives are expected to launch next month.
