Philadelphia’s New Green Banking Institution

The formation of an eco-minded banking institution in the Philadelphia region has been formally announced. e3bank will focus every aspect of its infrastructure, operations, and products and services towards a triple bottom line approach.

According to businesswire.com, “e3bank’s mission is to strengthen enterprise and restore the environment, while increasing social equity. The guiding philosophy is that all corporate decisions will:

build prosperous and sustainable enterprise through sound investments in people and the planet;
protect the health of the planet’s environment, which supports life and the economy; and
increase social equity by being fair to all people affected by the bank’s decisions and by improving the quality of life in the communities it serves.”

The bank’s impressive board of directors are also developing the e3bank Foundation which will direct ten percent of corporate profits to programs and initiatives stimulating the green economy.

e3bank expects to open its doors for business in the first quarter of 2009 with retail locations in Philadelphia, Pa. and Malvern, Pa., as well as offering online banking access.
