FSC Certified Cabinetry

A significant way to reduce the environmental impact of your kitchen or bath remodel/update is to repair and repaint your existing cabinetry. Perhaps add some new hardware to give your cabinets a fresh, modern look. But, if your cabinets are beyond a quick (and inexpensive) fix, the next best thing is to consider purchasing new ones that are made with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood.

The Forest Stewardship Council is a non-profit organization that verifies wood products come from sustainably managed forests with strict management policies in place that “meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations”.

The following cabinet manufacturers have obtained an FSC chain-of-custody certification which enables consumers to know that responsibly-managed wood products have been tracked from forest throughout the production process to their home or business.

Instead of demolishing your old cabinets and filling up landfill space, please donate them if they are in decent shape, as someone less fortunate than you might be able to put them to good use.
