Compliment Your Home Decor with the Right Light of CFLs

For those who strive to make your houses feel like homes, the right lighting is a key. And with the right lighting, you can brighten up any space and not spend a fortune on your electric bills—that is, if you opt for energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs.

If you’re worried about the light from CFLs casting a strange glow on your home decor, you can put your mind at ease because today’s CFLs offer varying shades of white light that work well to compliment any color scheme.

In a recent post, I intended to calm your concerns about the way the actual CFL bulbs look, and today I will sooth your fears about the light compact fluorescents emit.

“The shade of white light is identified by the Correlated Color Temperature, or CCT, which is measured in Kelvin (K) and ranges from 2700K to 6500K.” A lower Kelvin number, labeled as “soft or warm white” light, provides a warmer light which is complimentary to red, yellow and orange colors you may have in your home. If you tend to decorate with cooler colors, like blues, greens and violets, your home’s interior will be enhanced with CFLs that carry a higher Kelvin number, labeled as “bright white,” “natural” or “daylight”.
