Looking for something interesting and informative to do this weekend in Arizona? If you’re curious about solar energy and eco-friendly homes, the ‘Living with the Sun–Valley Style–2008 Solar and Sustainable Building Tour’ will satisfy with two days of free, self-guided tours. It’s all part of the American Solar Energy Association’s National Tour of Solar and Sustainable Buildings taking place across the country in October. There must be a great deal to see in Arizona, since residents and other building owners are actually opening their doors for tours during October and November.
“See the technologies of energy independence and security and resource efficiency; learn the techniques of going Green and solar and how it can save money and resources; meet the everyday people and experts who will be sharing their knowledge of energy and resource efficient, healthy, and environmentally responsible design and construction.”
Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll see on this tour:
- a new, LEED certified Platinum residence in Phoenix
- an energy efficient, solar powered earth integrated house in Mesa
- a straw bale desert house in Apache Junction
- several energy and sustainable remodeled residences
- a LEED certified Scottsdale Fire Station
- new solar energy and resource efficient developments in the East and West Valley and much, much more.
Tours are scheduled for October 18th and 19th from 10am to 4pm throughout the Phoenix Metro area. Visit the Arizona Solar Center website for a guide of places to see.
