Save Energy With Every Flip of the Switch

If you’ve come to the realization that your old or broken light fixture(s) need replacing, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the many options available today that will save money on your electric bill. Not only will you save there, but you’ll also do your part to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by minimizing your energy consumption.

Light fixtures that are awarded the Energy Star label use less energy, are available in numerous attractive styles, and are reasonably priced. They distribute light more efficiently and evenly than standard fixtures, and carry a 2-year warranty which is double the industry standard. Energy Star qualified light fixtures can be found at home improvement and hardware stores, lighting showrooms, and online (find a store near you with Energy Star’s store locator).

‘If every American home replaced their 5 most frequently used light fixtures or the bulbs in them with ones that have earned the ENERGY STAR, we would save close to $8 billion each year in energy costs, and together we would prevent the greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions from nearly 10 million cars.’

To save even more money on your electric bills and reduce your carbon footprint, replace burned-out incandescent lightbulbs with compact fluorescent lightbulbs (See my earlier posts about choosing the right CFL here and how CFLs can compliment any decor here).  Another easy thing that anyone can do to save energy is to turn off lights and other equipment when not in use.
