The mystical red rock area of Sedona, Arizona is calling all who are interesting in solar energy and green building. The ‘Living with the Sun — Sedona & Verde Valley Style’ leg of the American Solar Energy Society’s national tour will take place this Saturday, November 1st.
From 9am until 4pm, you’ll have the opportunity to visit (for free!) some of the area’s most energy efficient homes. Some of the featured stops include:
- Craftsman Home in the Canyon with Photovoltaic & Hot Water Solar plus Reclaimed Materials
- Off-Grid Dome Home with solar and other systems — that costs just $15/year for heating
- Low-cost, energy efficient home under construction with waste water wetlands and more
- Hybrid Upscale Home with Hot Water Solar under Photovoltaics, SIP construction & electric vehicle
The tour is self-guided and will educate visitors on the latest green building technologies, renewable energy sources like wind and solar, sustainable design, active and passive solar strategies, improving indoor air quality, thermal mass techniques, integrating environmentally-friendly materials, and rain water and grey water catchment systems.
Visit SustainableArizona.org for more information and maps (and pics) of the open houses.
