In January, I wrote a post about green options for new interior doors, where I talked about Humabilt’s formaldehyde-free wheatcore doors and TruStile’s formaldehyde-free MDF doors. Of course, since then other manufacturers have followed suit and now offer eco-friendly options—all of which have no added urea formaldehyde.
Masonite’s Safe ‘N Sound® Emerald™ Series features solid-core, molded panel interior doors made with rapidly renewable wheat straw and FSC-certified recycled woods. The 1 3/8″ thick doors are available in 13 classic styles and 3 heights.
The GreenDorTM Series by Lynden Door, Inc is a solid core panel which is made in the USA, from recovered agricultural fiber. Lynden doors makes doors that are suitable for the residential and architectural markets. The manufacturing facility in Lynden, Washington is FSC Chain-of-Custody certified.
VT Industries’ commercial Agrifiber Architectural Wood Doors are made from wheat straw and soybean straw in the company’s facilities in Iowa and Indiana.
