The USGBC’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) green building program for 2009 has passed member ballot which upgrades the rating system for commercial buildings. Changes include the weighting of certain green strategies to emphasize energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in new and existing buildings. Another addition is a set of regional credits tailored to meet the environmental priorities of certain geographical areas.
