Re-Using Helium from Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloons

I was wondering if there was anything “green” about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and then I came upon this story. Since helium isn’t a rapidly renewble resource (it is produced extremely slowly by decaying uranium and thorium), some of this year’s smaller parade balloons will have the valuable gas sucked right out of them to be used again.
