A $60 billion portion of the estimated $825 billion stimulus bill that President Barack Obama and Congress are working on will be dedicated to promoting clean and efficient energy. Not only will this help to reduce America’s carbon footprint, but many new jobs will be created. Where will the money go?
- “Smart” grid technology and tax credits to upgrade America’s aging and inefficient energy grid (an estimated 10 to 30% of electricity from the generator to the plug is currently wasted).
- Loans and grants for renewable-energy projects, such as those using solar, wind and geothermal.
- Weatherization and improvement of energy efficiency in federal buildings, military bases, schools and homes.
- Programs to promote alternative, more sustainable transportation.

Wow, it’s so great to hear that our tax money might actually be going towards something important!
I have been so bewildered in the past but now it all makes sense!
