7 Easy Ways to an Eco-Chic Bathroom

green-bathroomIf you love that relaxing ambiance of the spa, why not recreate that atmosphere in your bathroom at home? Here are some tips for making your revamped bath eco-friendly and luxurious:

  • Paint the walls a soothing color with non-toxic, zero-VOC paint.
  • Fill baskets with rolled up towels made from soft & cozy organic cotton or bamboo.
  • Change lightbulbs to energy-efficient compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs).
  • Opt for a machine-washable fabric shower curtain & liner (ideally organic cotton or hemp) instead of the disposable plastic variety that off-gases into your room.
  • Add inexpensive, water-conserving aerators to your sink faucet. A low-flow showerhead or dual-flush toilet will perform well, yet save even more water.
  • Choose soaps and personal care & cleaning products made from natural ingredients.
  • Light a few soy-based candles to provide a delicately-scented and calming mood during your bathtime.
