- FOOD & DRINK: Check out your local farmers’ market this weekend and fill your reusable shopping bag with local and organic products. Serve up your goodies with recycled paper products (plates, cups, napkins, etc.) and reusable utensils.
- COOLING OFF: Skip the chemical concoction in the swimming pool and visit your local park and jump in the lake, as long as it’s allowed of course!
- FLAGS: Show your patriotic spirit by purchasing a flag made of recycled materials.
- BUG PROTECTION: Apply DEET-free skin products before heading outdoors to prevent mosquito bites. My favorite is Avon’s amazing Skin So Soft line. To light up the night and repel mosquitoes, try the best citronella candles which are made of all natural beeswax with essential oils of Citronella, Cedarwood or Lemongrass. If tiki torches are more your style, use lighter fluid that is biodegradable and made from vegetable oil.
- FIREWORKS: If you love the dazzling displays, take public transportation to the big show.
