Green Cabinets, Part III

Share this on:Green cabinets are those made from sustainable materials such as bamboo, FSC-certified wood, or reclaimed wood. Antique reclaimed wood is sourced from old buildings and barns that are condemned, abandoned or beyond repair, and is re-milled to reveal the beautiful, high-quality wood hiding beneath decades of dust, dirt and grime. By re-using materials already in existence, we eliminate the tremendous amount of energy and resources required to make new products, thus helping to preserve the environment.
Here’s a list of companies that build custom cabinetry from reclaimed wood:
- Allegheny WoodWorks, Lewisburg, WV
- Antique Woods and Colonial Restoration, Gouverneur, NY
- Barnoire Furniture & Cabinetry, Williston, VT
The following companies sell reclaimed lumber for use as flooring, cabinetry, furniture, and more:
- Elmwood Reclaimed Timber, Kansas City, MO
- Pioneer Millworks, Farmington, NY
- Black’s Farmwood, San Rafael, CA
- Restoration Timber, showrooms in New York, NY and San Francisco, CA
