Green Home Tours, Seattle Style

For those of you lucky enough to live in, or visit, this progressive northwestern city, mark your calendars for upcoming tours of local green homes.  Each month, for free, you can visit and learn about the latest sustainable design strategies in one completed home, as well as one that’s under construction.  During each tour, the group’s two guides explore various issues of sustainable building, such as healthy interiors, energy efficiency and water conservation.

The homes highlighted during Green Home Tours are LEED certified through the U.S. Green Building Council or meet the criteria of the local non-profit program called Built Green“Built Green homes are designed to provide homeowners with comfortable, durable, environmentally friendly homes that are cost-effective to own and operate.”

The next scheduled tour by Green Home Tours is Saturday, June 27th from noon until 3pm.  Air sealing and weatherization techniques will be discussed.

Built Green is offering its Green, Clean and Lean Home Tour on Friday, June 26th and Saturday, June 27th in Issaquah, WA.  The featured home is certified by Energy Star Homes Northwest and the American Lung Association (ALA) Health House program.  It has also received a 5-Star Built Green rating.  During the tour hours, speakers will also present in-depth information about green interior design, indoor air quality, green building, and energy efficiency.
