Quick and Easy Home Energy Audit

Share this on:

Now that the chill of winter is upon us, you may be wondering how to make your home feel more comfortable and save money on heating bills.  There are some simple things you can do like checking your home for air leaks and amount of insulation, as well as getting a check-up for your heating system.

Air can flow through such areas as electrical outlets, switch plates, window and door frames, baseboards, fireplace dampers, attic hatches, and wall or window-mounted air conditioner units.  You may only need an inexpensive fix like adding caulking, weather stripping, or insulation.  Or, it may even be time to replace old windows with energy-efficient ones.

If you feel that your home needs more than a quick fix, you may want to consider having a professional energy audit, which may include a blower door test, thermographic scan, or possibly a PFT air infiltration measurement technique.
