Recycling Efforts Help Rebuild New Orleans

The unique architectural heritage of New Orleans is being saved by the efforts of a local non-profit group called “The Green Project”. The organization helps with deconstruction efforts across the great old town and resells high-quality, salvaged building materials at affordable prices at its

The facility also houses a recycling center for everything from paint to cardboard and household electronics. There’s also a lovely garden on site where workshops are held to educate the public on composting and beautifying small spaces.

Local artists promote the “trash to treasure” concept and display their notable works that integrate salvaged materials in “The Green Room”.

Volunteers are a welcomed addition to the staff in the warehouse, office, at festivals and workshops. And of course donations of various architectural elements are accepted six days a week at “The Green Project“.
