Since the demand for such goods has been growing in recent years, more and more green stores are popping up all around the country.

In addition to countless online shops, numerous brick-and-mortar stores are providing easy access to high-quality, eco-friendly items–from everyday household items to green building supplies. Two new stores, one on the West Coast and one on the East Coast, recently opened for business.

The Green Life, in Santa Monica offers an extensive line of household goods–from organic linens and baby clothing to all natural skin care products and green cleaners, to recycled glass dishware and bamboo dining accessories. The shop itself is environmentally-conscious. Painted with zero-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints and housed in an existing building that didn’t require demolition or new construction, the store even displays some goods in vintage bins and bowls.

The Big Green Earth Store, located in Philadelphia, offers plenty of common household products and stylish home accessories. Its goods include everything from non-toxic. locally-manufactured cleaners and energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs to flatware and toothbrushes made from recycled plastic, to locally-made wall sculptures, pottery, clocks and picture frames made from reclaimed materials. While at the store, you can also drop off your old cell phones, eyeglasses and batteries for recycling.
